ADR1FT VR
Title: ART DIRECTOR
2001 minimalism meets the signature color use of Mirrors Edge.
FUTURE... As defined through the visual style of Adr1ft is a re-imagined minimalists take of what the year 2037 would be like in space. Spartan, white, clean, simple, minimal.
-Embrace the perceived simplicity of life that science-fiction implies through clean, grounded, minimalist design elements. Contrast this minimalism with devastation through silhouettes, lighting, and FX to enhance chaos.
-Light Bright monochromatic read with purposeful use of color.
-Closer inspection through exploration will reveal a familiarity through materials and surface types, giving the player a familiar point of reference in our stylized world.
VISUAL PILLARS
Of the hundreds of reference images that were used throughout preproduction on Adr1ft, the bellow board best represents the compilation of visual pillars that sparked the creativity that would come to define and guide our concept process.
-Our world is Functional, Purposeful, Corporate, Scientific. It should feel 'Lived In', not through years of wear and tear, but through the objects that are present.
Concepts
Working closely with the talented Concept Artist Oscar Caffaro, we sought to achieve a look that was pure and simple, stripped of all non essential concepts and features. Simplifying the larger reads, and allowing details to live only in the subtleties of the surfaces, waiting to be discovered. Bellow are the key concept pieces that would come to define the signature style of Adr1ft and help guide the art team along the way.
-Perceived Details through Minimalism and Form.
